Families and communities have their records. Through them we can visit the past lives of people and places. But what records are we making now for the future?

We create evidence of our lives all the time. We email, chat online, text and blog. We are always on our mobiles and photograph everything. But most of us treat what we send or receive like so much litter, and discard it at a click. Gone forever.

Why not make a conscious decision to place 'documents' that say something about the realities of our present lives in open archive, and so 'speak' to the future.

We cannot predict what life will be like 50 or 100 years from now, but we can be sure that people's lives will be different. By making open archive we can 'show and tell' our world to our future neighbours, to people who we will never know.
